The Effects of Interaction-centered Group Expressive Art Therapy on Depression and Interpersonal Relationships of Elderly Women Living Alone

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of interactionbased group expression art therapy on the depression and human relationship of elderly women living alone. The subject of this research is female senior citizens living alone, who use OO general welfare center located in Seoul and it was collected by order of arrival according to the guidance of social workers. The period of this research is a total of 18 sessions were conducted every 80 minutes once a week. And, group expressive arts therapy was applied to the experimental group, Through the group expressive arts therapy, changes of depression and the human relationships of the experimental group were compared. The tools of this research were KGDS, RCS, and DAS. KGDS and RCS were derived using the SPSS WIN 25.0 statistical program according to the purpose of analysis. In addition, through the changes of DAS contents, changes of depression were examined and through the changes by stage, compared the interaction changes in each session. As a result, there were significant changes in tests of depression and human relationships conducted by pre and post-tests. Changes in DAS and interaction changes have also identified positive changes, such as reduced depression and improved interpersonal relationships. Therefore, this study shows that the effects of interaction-based group expression art therapy program has reduced the depression of elderly women living alone, has had a positive effect on interpersonal relationship changes, and suggests that this program can be applied as a useful method as an emotional support system.
